Furry Writers' Guild Forum

Howdy!

Nice to meet all of you. The name is Devin/Debra(depending on which gender im in the mood for on a given day) Hallsworth and I just recently made my first paying sale to a furry publication! ;D

Specifically a short story for Fred Pattens Dogs of War anthology https://furplanet.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=895

Besides that I’ve mostly written stuff for the transformation community http://shifti.org/wiki/Category:Devin_Hallsworth

I think I’ll cap this intro by asking if anyone else on this forum has been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and has any experience with getting around it and achieving productivity. It stumped me all through high school even with drugs and continues to be a bane for me well into my writing life as well.

Welcome, and congrats on the acceptance!

Greets, Friend!

Welcome!

As for ADD, that’s kind of a tough one. I am old enough that my diagnosis was “hyperactivity,” which is more or less what’s become ADHD, and my prescription was–as nuts as it sounds–coffee. (Caffeine raises dopamine, so it can actually improve concentration for ADHD sufferers, within moderation.)

What sometimes helps me focus is to do writing, or anything else that requires a lot of concentration, in 25-minute sprints: 25 minutes with complete focus, 5 minutes off. This is borrowed from the “Pomodoro Technique” for task management, which does a lot more than this.

Welcome to the forums!

Interesting! Ive never heard of the pomodoro technique, I’ll have to give it a look.

Welcome aboard!
