William Stanley Merwin (September 30, 1927 – March 15, 2019) was an American poet who wrote over fifty books of poetry and prose, and produced many works in translation. . . He died on March 15, 2019, in his sleep at his home, as reported by his publisher Copper Canyon Press
W.S. Merwin did not write many poems with animal themes but I would like to note two of his poems that are, IMO, exceptionally good. Posted on my DreamWidth journal, here are “Vixen” and “Fox Sleep”.
